Yes, it rained. Yes, it was wet. But I wouldn't have changed anything about the first Green Bay Packer game I got to enjoy with my son Chase. I've been to many Green Bay games at Lambeau Field. I took Holly 2 years ago for the first time and we got to see a Packer win over Detroit. After that game we both agreed that if I got the chance to head up north to catch a Packer game again that I should take Chase. He's 11. It's time he learned about the magic that IS Lambeau Field.

Chase and I embarked on our trip north as part of a bus trip. We left Cedar Rapids Saturday morning and enjoyed an overnight stay in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. On Sunday morning we departed for Green Bay and a showdown with the Cowboys. We enjoyed a tailgate party, spent way too much money in the pro shop and then headed to our seats when the gates opened. Our seats were in the newly renovated south end zone of Lambeau. We were in the 5th level and our seats were great. Unlike the bleachers throughout most of Lambeau, we had our own individual seats. The only downside? It was pouring. We both had rain gear on but it was coming down in buckets. I was a little worried about how Chase would fare in the bad weather.

But then, about 45 minutes before kickoff, the rain stopped. We sat down, watched the players warm up and got ready for the game. I can't tell you how fun it was watching Chase enjoy the game. From the amazing fireworks during the national anthem, to all the Packer touchdowns being scored in our end of the field, the night was filled with memories I'll hold on to forever. My favorite part was hearing Chase yell "GO PACK GO" and screaming when Green Bay was on defense. He was into it. The Packers won, 28-7. Our bus was a happy one. Even though the drive home took over 8 HOURS...I wouldn't trade a minute of it. It was a father-son weekend we'll never forget.
