Beto O'Rourke has confirmed that he is indeed running for President. He confirmed the news in a text sent to KTSM, a TV station in his hometown of El Pase, Texas. Now, O'Rourke has his sights set on Iowa.

Beto will be in Cedar Rapids this Friday. The former Texas congressman will be a guest on The Political Party Live podcast. It will be recorded Friday at the Raygun store at 7 p.m. The event is free, but space is limited so people are encouraged to register in advance.

Even before his announcement this week, O'Rourke has constantly been mentioned as a possible candidate. His reputation in the Democratic Party soared during his near upset of Ted Cruz in the 2018 midterm elections. Despite not having campaigned yet in Iowa, Beto polled higher in the most recent poll than more established candidates like Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, and Kristin Gillibrand.

O'Rourke will be all over Iowa the next three days. Along with his Friday stop in Cedar Rapids, he'll stop in other cities including Waterloo, where he'll campaign for on behalf of Eric Giddens, the Democrat in the special election for Iowa State Senate District 30.
