We all know that special effects are a huge part of movies today. Shooting scenes in front of a green screen is now the norm. When a film does it the right way, special effects blend seamlessly with practical sets and effects. It was one of the major complaints about the Star Wars prequel trilogy directed by George Lucas. Entire movies felt like they were nothing more than actors in front of green screens. So when J.J. Abrams took on the directing duties for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' he promised to use practical set pieces whenever he could. He held true to his promise. But to think that very little special effects were used is silly. Yesterday, Industrial Light and Magic, the company behind Star Wars special effects, released footage of just how much special effects were used in the making of the film. The results were amazing!
