Beautiful Ice Sculptures To Be Featured At Marion ICE Event
Today's blast of winter weather will be a hit for everyone who misses the sight of ice and snow. If you really love ice, more specifically ice sculptures, you'll want to visit Uptown Marion this Saturday afternoon!
The city of Marion is set to host a new event on Saturday called Marion ICE. It will be held in City Square Park in Uptown Marion on Saturday, February 11th, starting at 4 p.m., according to a press release from the city. There will be live ice sculpting demonstrations and once finished, you'll be able to take photos of the amazing projects. There is no cost to attend Marion ICE on Saturday.
The press release says that some of the ice sculptures will be Valentine's and Super Bowl-themed and patrons will be able to pose alongside the completed projects. There will also be hot chocolate served and a number of family-friendly games to be played in City Square Park. Activities in the park will wrap up around 7 p.m. Visitors are urged to visit the shops and restaurants of Uptown Marion after the ICE Festival concludes.
The city of Marion continues to grow and evolve. The Uptown area features many new shops, restaurants, and new apartment complexes. The state-of-the-art Marion Public Library opened last fall. The city also reports that Marion received an award for its 10th Ave. Sidepaths project, being named Iowa's Best Recreational Trails Project of 2022. And, the city has also announced that both Unity Point Health-St. Lukes and Mercy Medical Center will be building new ER facilities in Marion. Both are slated to be open in 2024.
