I am very afraid of heights, but I'll do my best to explain what's about to be built. Once completed, it will tower almost 2,000 feet into the sky and it will be an easy day trip from the Midwest in a most unusual place for skyscrapers.

Of all places, I saw this story about what will become America's tallest skyscraper shared by The Daily Mail in the UK. That pointed me to a story by Fox 25 in Oklahoma City about a project known as the Bricktown Boardwalk. This is what the Oklahoma City skyline looks like now.

The new tower that has just been approved to be built will tower over 1,900 feet into the sky and be twice the height of the current tallest Oklahoma City building. This is approximately how tall it will be once it's done.

If it's built, it will be the tallest skyscraper in the U.S. It would be more than 100 feet taller than One World Trade Center in New York City. At 1,776 feet, it's currently the country's tallest building.

Can you imagine a tower of this magnitude in Oklahoma City? I can't. I have acquired many Oklahoma friends in my lifetime and they're all wonderful people. However, even they would likely admit that when you think of metro skylines, you don't think of Oklahoma City.

I will say that the Bricktown Boardwalk project will be epic if they complete it like the plans say. Who knows? Maybe Oklahoma City will develop one of those iconic skylines that people want to visit? Remember that I said "maybe".
