A New Wedding Venue is Coming to Downtown Cedar Rapids [PHOTOS]

If you're looking for a place to host a wedding in 2022 and beyond, Downtown Cedar Rapids may have just the place you're looking for!

According to a new Facebook page, a gorgeous wedding venue is in the works in the downtown area. The page reads:

"Introducing, The Carriage House.

A strategically designed wedding experience is no longer out of reach. In fact, it's our standard.

Every single portion of The Carriage House will be purposeful, functional and most importantly, refined with you and your guests in mind."

The Carriage House has an interesting history. According to the amenities guide for the venue, "the original brick portion of The Carriage House was built in the early 1880s, before the construction commenced on the adjacent Averill Mansion in 1884. It was built to house the horses and carriages of the owner, Arthur Tappan Averill." Many, many years later, the property was purchased by Bill and Jeannie Olinger, with the space mainly being used as a law firm. In 2013, Bill started an addition to the Carriage House and planned to turn it into a restaurant. Unfortunately, he unexpectedly passed away in 2015, and the plans were stalled. Six years later, newlyweds John & Tania Olinger took over and decided to turn it into a wedding venue. And here we are!

Some of the amenities at the Carriage House include indoor and outdoor seating for 200 people, two suites, a veranda, a rooftop deck, and a courtyard with a garden, fire-pits, and a fountain. The venue is partnering with Anne and Ellis Events, "a team of passionate, industry professionals committed to making your dream day a reality."
