I'm sure a lot of you out there are like me, and you made a New Year's resolution to get skinny in the new year. Well, trainer to the stars Harley Pasternak says that we're already starting off on the wrong foot by referring to our goals as "resolutions."

Harley is a trainer for celebs like Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, and Megan Fox, and he has 5 tips for all of us normal people trying to lose weight in the new year.

  1. Change one small thing at a time - If you make too many big changes at once, it's easier to quit.
  2. Start today - Don't wait for New Year's Day next time, just get going right away!
  3. Strength in numbers - Having friends/family with similar goals is a great motivator.
  4. Get the right tools - New running shoes or a cool new blender are also great motivators!
  5. Focus on the process - Try to think about the steps you're taking to reach your goal, rather than just the goal itself.
