13 High Risk Coronavirus Patients Taken to Eastern Nebraska

The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha (UNMC) has 13 different people who are considered 'high risk' for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) under their watch. The 13 were on two planes that landed at Eppley Airfield in Omaha this morning, both carrying Americans who were on the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Passengers on the ship, which was docked just off the Japanese coast, had been under quarantine since February 3.

The thirteen people, all adults, were taken to the campus of the Nebraska Medical Center this morning. Christopher Kratochvil, executive director of clinical research for the Global Center for Health Security UNMC,

Around 2 or 3 this morning, we were asked to bring individuals who had tested positive or had a high likelihood of testing positive (for coronavirus), based on the symptoms they were showing.”

According to KETV, it is believed ten of the 13 people have tested positive for Coronavirus, with all showing mild symptoms. They will all remain in quarantine at least two weeks, and likely longer. The passengers were tested for the disease two or three days before they left the ship and none of them showed any symptoms when they left the Diamond Princess.

Fifty-seven other people were put under quarantine at Camp Ashland, west of Omaha, on Friday, February 7. None of them have shown symptoms of Coronavirus to this point.
