You may notice a police car on the streets of Cedar Rapids with a very different color scheme.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is helping promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a pink and white squad car. It made its debut yesterday as it led the 25th Annual Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer.

This morning, it stopped at its first school this morning, when officer Shannon Stokesberry visited students at Harrison Elementary kindergarteners. The car will continue to be used throughout October, and will no doubt get a lot of second looks. It should be noted that a City of Cedar Rapids Fleet Service employee donated their time and all of the materials for this specially painted squad car.
