The strangest college football season in history is nearing its close with both Iowa and Iowa State being selected to play in bowl games. Here's where each is headed, and who they'll play in the next couple of weeks.

Iowa State, 8-3 and ranked 10th, will be heading west for a January bowl game for the first time in program history. The Cyclones, who nearly came all the way back to win the Big 12 Championship Game Saturday against Oklahoma, are bound for the 50th Fiesta Bowl in Mesa, Arizona.

The Cyclones will do battle against 25th-ranked Oregon. The Ducks are 4-2 after defeating #21 USC 31-24 Friday night in the PAC-12 Championship Game. If Iowa State wins, they'll have their first nine-win season since 2000.

The Fiesta Bowl airs Saturday, January 2 at 3 p.m. on ESPN. According to Fox 10 in Phoenix, Arizona, only immediate family members will be allowed to attend the game.

The 15th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes, 6-2, won their last six games, following season-opening defeats to Northwestern and Purdue. After having their Big Ten Champions Weekend game against Michigan canceled due to continued COVID concerns in the Wolverines program, Iowa will head east.

According to the University of Iowa Sports Information Department, the Hawkeyes will play Missouri in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee. The Tigers, of the SEC, are 5-5. They gave up 100 points in their last two games combined, losses to Georgia and Mississippi State.

The Music City Bowl will be played on Wednesday, December 30 at 3 p.m. on ESPN. Fans will be allowed at the game, but attendance will be limited to approximately 14,000.
