Sad news to report today. Joan Feller, the racecar driver who was critically injured in an accident at Hawkeye Downs on the last lap of the INEX Legends main event, will not recover from her injuries.

According to her family, she is currently still on life support so her youngest child can say goodbye after returning from a school trip on Tuesday.

Feller’s niece, Ashley Petefish, created a GoFundMe account to help with the funeral expenses and to benefit the two children she leaves behind. On the GoFundMe page, Petefish wrote that Feller would want to know her two children are taken care of and that they don't have to worry about the cost of funeral expenses or money for education.

In an interview with The Gazette, Petefish said that Feller is an organ donor and the family is anticipating removing her from life support on Wednesday as long as her body has been successfully prepared for organ donation.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
