NASCAR has some work to do. Speedweeks is over with in Daytona Beach, FL & Joey Logano is your Daytona 500 winner. The race came down to the final lap and for the most part was an uneventful race and finished uneventful. The "big one" didn't happen until the last lap and on the backstretch. Austin Dillon got into the RR of Jeff Gordon and the wreck was on.

I'm all for safety, don't get me wrong, but NASCAR threw the caution and the race was overwith. That caution put an end to what could have been an exciting finish, something NASCAR needs right now... EXCITEMENT!!! The Drivers in NASCAR have spotters, NASCAR has spotters, and all the Drivers making their way to the checkered flag knew the big one happened on the backstretch. No one was in harms way, why not let them race to the finish line? They use to race back to the flag years ago and the accident was over a half a track away. No one was in harms way. Wouldn't it have been fun watching Joey battle it out with Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt JR. to the finish? That's something everyone would be talking about today.

NASCAR has to re-think their "Group Qualifying". On the Super Speedways such as Daytona, the draft is so important for speed so it's not a true reflection on who has the fastest car. On the Super Speedway tracks, go back to single car qualifying... PLEASE!!!

On Saturday during the Xfinity race, Kyle Busch was injured in closing laps and will be out of the Sprint Cup for an extended period of time. Kyle sustained a compound fracture of the right lower leg and suffered a mid-foot fracture of his left foot in the accident. For Sunday, NASCAR placed tires along the infield wall area where Kyle had his wreck. Unfortunately, a day late for Kyle.

Cedar Rapids native Landon Cassill had his race come to a quick ending when his motor let go on lap 18 and Landon finished 43rd.

NASCAR now moves to Atlanta for this weekends race. Grab your Winter jacket as the cold front we have through our State is affecting Atlanta as well.

Here's something to think about on this record setting cold Monday... the first race in Iowa is a little over a month away!!!
