Zach Johnson has been here before. Sinking a biridie put on the 18th hole to secure a tournament win. But he's also literally been here before. Johnson played his college golf at Drake University and played countless rounds at Wakonda Club in Des Moines. It all added up to a big win for the Iowa native on Sunday.

Zach Johnson Wins Tournament in His Home State

For those who don't follow golf, the PGA Tour Champions circuit is reserved for golfers 50 years of age and older. The Des Moines Register reports that Johnson is a Champions rookie this season, but is already making himself feel right at home. Zach made his first-ever start at Wakonda Club in Des Moines and ended up winning the Principal Charity Classic by four strokes. A birdie on the final hole put the finishing touch on a memorable weekend in Iowa.

Johnson Playing Well on Champions Tour

The Register reports that Johnson shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday. That followed his round of 63, the low round of the week, on Saturday. In his eight starts on the senior tour, Johnson has seven top-4 finishes, according to the Register. He got his first win on the Champions Tour back in March. But nothing compares to winning on your home turf.

Johnson wouldn't reveal how he and his crew would celebrate the big win, saying only that it would probably involve his Drake Bulldog family.
