Wilson's Orchard and Farm in Iowa City is making some changes in the new year. That will unfortunately involve a closing.

The Des Moines Register reports that Wilson's Orchard announced on Facebook that it will be closing its restaurant. Instead, Wilson's plans to reimagine the upper level of the Ciderhouse into a second private-event center. The Register reports that orchard owner Paul Rasch and his family say the change came from lessons learned from their Des Moines Ciderhouse.

Wilson's Orchard stated that the change will better allow them to address the growing demand for event bookings. The Register reports that it will also allow them to focus on popular ticketed events like their Full Moon Dinners.

The Register reports that as part of the changes, Wilson's will start hosting events in the new space in February. All previously booked events for the downstairs area, including weddings, will not be affected by the change. Opening the upper level as an events center will allow Wilson's to host multiple events on popular dates that were previously unavailable according to the Register. The new upper level will have a capacity of over 60 with a patio capacity of 60.
