Savannah Bananas Visit Kids at the UI Children's Hospital [WATCH]

Beloved baseball team the Savannah Bananas are in Eastern Iowa for a couple of games this weekend, but they made sure to arrive early to visit with some kids at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital!

Late Thursday morning (July 2nd), the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children's Hospital posted a video on their social media accounts that showed players from the Savannah Bananas taking pictures, playing games, and doing crafts with kids who are currently at the hospital. The caption reads:

"A home-run kind of visit. Thanks to The Savannah Bananas for stepping up to the plate and brightening the day for our patients and families."

If you're not familiar with the Savannah Bananas, they're a popular baseball team that travels all over the U.S. to play 'Banana Ball,' which they describe on their website as "the fastest and most entertaining game of baseball." The team is best known for its choreographed dances, legendary walk-ups, and epic scoring celebrations. Highlights of the games include a Dad Bod Cheerleading Squad called the Man-Nana’s, a break-dancing first base coach, a 10-foot tall player on stilts, and a Lion King-inspired moment with the 'Banana Baby.' The Iowa City Games

The Savannah Bananas will be playing two games at Kinnick Stadium this weekend: one on July 3rd and one on the 4th. Unfortunately, the games have been sold out for MONTHS, so the only way to attend one is to take your chances on the second-hand ticket market.

If you already have tickets for this weekend's games, please be safe! The 90-degree temperatures have prompted the University of Iowa to put some heat safety measures in place, including allowing attendees to bring a sealed water bottle or empty refillable water bottle into the stadium. Fans also have the option to stream the games from home! According to Hawk Central, both games will stream on the Savannah Bananas' YouTube channel, with the July 3rd game also airing on truTV, and the July 4th game airing on the Roku Sports Channel. They begin at 7 p.m.
