Water Tower Next To Kinnick Stadium Finally Going To The Hawks
What took you so long, Iowa? After years of wondering why the huge white water tower next to Kinnick Stadium wasn't color-coded to the Iowa Hawkeyes, we don't have to wonder anymore. It will happen in time for the 2018 season.
The University of Iowa Sports Information Department has announced the beautiful Tigerhawk logo will face Kinnick Stadium when work is complete this fall by Tank Logos of Franklin, Tennessee. The Tigerhawk will be 24-feet across and nearly 15-and-a-half feet tall.
Drive up Hawkins Drive from Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and you'll see the block lettering of IOWA. The I-O-W-A will also be 24-feet wide. It will stand just under 8-feet tall on the 70-foot water tower tank.
The University of Iowa also announced no general fund dollars from the University will be used on the project which is expected to cost between $25,000 and $30,000. It will be paid for totally with Athletic Department resources.
The Tigerhawk is at mid-field and will soon be on the water tower and the north end zone is in the process of a rebuild. Kinnick Stadium just keeps getting better.
