Unique Waterloo Building Needs To Be Seen From The Sky [PHOTO]
Did a middle school student design this parking ramp?
Sometimes the stuff you find scrolling on the internet might just change your life...this is not one of those times.
After scrolling through Reddit the other night I fell down the rabbit hole that is the Iowa Subreddit. That particular evening it had the usual stuff; news about local politics, people asking for restaurant recommendations, and some strange finds.
This discovery absolutely falls into the "strange finds" category.
One user pointed out that a Waterloo parking ramp had an interesting shape, but you could only really recognize it from a bird's eye view.
It's the East Side Parking Ramp and is located in downtown Waterloo right along the corners of Commercial Street, West 5th Street, and Cedar Street. It's located in between the Best Western and Veteran's Memorial Hall.
The exact address is 190 W 5th Street.
If you were just looking at it straight on, you wouldn't even notice anything too strange about it, right?
Just a completely normal place to park your car...
Nothing out of the normal here!
It looks normal because it is...unless you found a way to look down ONTO it from above. After a quick search on Google Images and using the proper filters or angles you might notice that it looks similar to something from your childhood.
Did you see it? Let's look a little closer!
If you can't pick up on it just yet, maybe if you look even closer you might notice it!
It looks exactly like that Super S that kids would draw all over their notes, desks, or bathroom stalls in school. I call it the "Super S" but the official name for it is "The Cool S." Other people call it the "Middle School S" or "The Graffiti S."
No matter what you called it, several generations remember doodling this in their notebooks back in middle school.
No one truly knows the origin of this iconic symbol that every single 10-year old drew in class. Some people think of it as the S from the iconic Superman suit and that it might've originated in the '90s.
However, there are accounts of this symbol appearing all across the globe starting in the 1960s. It doesn't matter where it started, it just matters that this parking ramp looks EXACTLY like it.
