Two Festivals are Coming Up in the Amana Colonies
If you missed Winterfest this year, no worries! A couple of other fun festivals in the Amana Colonies will return in 2021.
"Come celebrate spring with us! Warmer weather is here and the flowers are starting to bloom. May means Maifest in the Amana Colonies and you’ll find the villages are ready for the summer with flowers and Maipoles. It’s the German tradition of celebrating spring and we carry that tradition on in Amana today."
That's what the Amana Colonies website says about Maifest, which is coming up May 1st and 2nd. There are all sorts of great events planned for the weekend, including a parade, food trucks, live music/entertainment, Maipole dancers, and a wine, beer, and chocolate walk. You can get all the details on Maifest 2021 in the Amana Colonies, including a schedule for the Maipole dancers HERE.
But before May arrives, there is another festival happening in the Amana Colonies that foodies will really enjoy! It's called "Take a Bite," and the website describes it as "an award winning 3-day food experience that features sampling, hands-on activities and events, and special dinners." It's happening April 16th through 18th and will feature dinners at Ox Yoke Inn and Ronneburg Restaurant (reservations required), a Sampling Stroll, classes, live music, and lots and lots of FOOD. Check out a full itinerary for the weekend HERE.
Now that things are slowly starting to return to normal, we're hoping that ALL of the usual Amana Colonies festivals will be happening this year! You can read about all the fun things to do in the Amana Colonies HERE.
