The 2017 regular season is still more than four months away. I know, only just over four months?! Somehow it seems like it should be longer than that but the Hawkeyes will indeed open the 2017 season Saturday, September 2 against the Wyoming Cowboys. Tonight, fans get their first look at the 2017 version of the Iowa football team.

The game/practice begins tonight at 7:06 inside Kinnick Stadium. Under the lights for the first time to hopefully draw a bigger crowd. I'd bet on it. I expect a large gathering tonight inside the stadium named after Nile Kinnick, Iowa's only Heisman Trophy winner. Seating will be restricted only to the stadium's west side.

Tonight's game will be televised, but tape delayed. Big Ten Network will cover it beginning at 8:30 this evening. You can watch it live on BTN2Go. Tonight's commentators will be different too. I'm looking forward to hearing former TV-9 Sports Director John Campbell doing play-by-play this evening, alongside former Hawkeye great Chuck Long. Chuck will do color commentary and another former Hawkeye, the terrific wide receiver Danan Hughes, will be on the sideline.

If you're going tonight, there's no admission charge, as is always the case with the spring game. Land of 10 reports parking will be free on all surface lots near the stadium. The lots open at 5 p.m. Bringing an RV? You can park those in Lot 75 south, also starting at 5 this afternoon.

There's everything you need to know. Before you do too much arm-chair quarterbacking after watching tonight, remember Iowa has had only 15 practices and the season is still 19 weeks away. Yeah, only 19 weeks.
