I enjoyed Toby Keith's performance Thursday night in Monticello, and Eric Church raised the level even more Friday night. Saturday, Tim McGraw took it to the stratosphere, blowing away well over 40,000 fans at the Great Jones County Fair.

Tim was INCREDIBLE Saturday night. He hit the stage full-tilt and played hit after hit giving us plenty of highlights. Here are my three favorites:

  1. Tim says, "I've gotta go see those people down there," as he looked toward the midway. He ran down the stairs, through the backstage entrance, and along the edge of the track. The security team hustled after him and he belted out a tune probably 50 yards from the south edge of the grandstand (see photo above).
  2. "I Like It, I Love It." Tim shushed the crowd and then hollered, "I Like It" into the microphone. The crowd needed no more. They finished "I Love It, I Want Some More of It" and continued on from there. Tim just let 'em go... by the way,  you guys sounded GREAT.
  3. The encore finale, "Live Like You Were Dying." It has to be one of the greatest songs of all-time and Tim again did it every bit the justice it deserves.
I remember playing Tim's very first song "Welcome to the Club" 20+ years ago and his performance at an early 90's KHAK Free Country Concert. Little did we know then what an enduring superstar he would become.

The Great Jones County Fair country crowd waits for 2016. And what a year that too will be.
