How about a little vacation? Not too far out of Cedar Rapids but far enough to feel like you're getting away? Even better, how about reliving a bit of childhood nostalgia by spending a few days/nights in an (adult) treehouse?

If you like the sound of that, South Sioux City, Nebraska is home to the "Kottage Knechtion Treehouse B & B". The Airbnb listing describes everything you'll love about it. That is if you don't have a fear of heights to keep you from the space which sits 18 feet in the air and is nestled snugly between two cottonwood trees.

As the listing says it's designed to disconnect from the outside world, yet keeps you close to a casino, the Ponca State Park and the retail and restaurant district of downtown Sioux City. I have so much family in Sioux City, it's tempting for ME to book a stay so I can go hang with them yet still have a place to myself!

This is a self-check-in space but the hosts Maureen & Darwin live elsewhere on the grounds and offer a maximum of 2 guests with "breakfast of choice at The Koffie Knechtion, which offers a varieties of Lattes, Cappuccinos, amazing house-brewed coffee, quiches, burritos and homemade steel-cut oatmeal along with fabulous Heavens(muffins) in addition to biscuits n gravy on the weekends."  All food is prepared fresh daily in the koffie shop (the unique spellings are straight from their charming listing)

It includes a shower with towels, shampoo, and soap provided.

So it's, again, the real bed and breakfast experience with a modicum of privacy for $168 a night. Check out the photos and fall in love with yourself!
