Halloween should be fun for all kids. But for children with food allergies, going door to door for candy just isn't an option. That's why we're encouraging you to go 'Teal' this Halloween! Launched last year, the Teal Pumpkin Project raises awareness of food allergies and promotes a simple way to make Halloween fun for all kids.

All you have to do is agree to hand out non-food items to kids on Halloween and display a teal pumpkin on your porch or step to signify that your house is safe for anyone who may suffer from a food allergy. You're also asked to download a sign to display on your house.

Why is this so important? Statistics show 1 in 13 children in the U.S. suffer from some sort of food allergy. While some reactions may be mild, others could be serious, even deadly. There are plenty of non-food items you hand out including bubbles, pencils, bouncy balls, spider rings, whistles and stickers just to name a few! Go Teal and make Halloween fun for ALL kids this year!
