Survey Says Iowans are Likely to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse
If 'The Walking Dead' took place in Iowa, things might go a little more smoothly!
AMC's "The Walking Dead' has just started up again, which means many of us are glued to our TVs on Sunday nights. Sometimes when I'm watching the show, I can't help but start to think about my likelihood of survival if a zombie apocalypse ever really did happen. I honestly don't know how long I would make it. I suppose that one of the big deciding factors would be my location.
I came across an Estately survey this morning titled, "Does Your State Have What it Takes to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse?" and I was obviously curious. As it turns out, Iowa isn't a bad place to be if dead people start snacking on brains! We came in at #15. The rankings are based on the following stats:
- Fewest people per square mile
- Gun owners per capita
- Percentage who are cremated instead of buried
- Percentage of population that is physically active
- Interest in the zombie media genre
Here are the top five states where survival is most-likely:
- Alaska
- Idaho
- Montana
- Wyoming
- South Dakota
On the other hand, here are the BOTTOM five:
- New York
- Rhode Island
- Virginia
- New Jersey
- Maryland
So basically, if you live on the east side of the country... good luck.
