Raising Cane’s No Longer Planning Collins Road Location

Fans of Raising Cane's Chicken have been looking forward to a Cedar Rapids location for quite some time. The fast-food franchise was supposed to have its first corridor location along Collins Road in Cedar Rapids on the site of the old Ryan's Steakhouse. But those plans have been scrapped.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that franchisee Southern Hospitality Ventures planned on opening the Collins Road location this fall. The company also owns Raising Cane's locations in Altoona, Cedar Falls, Davenport, and West Des Moines. The company told the Gazette that "due to some changes, Cane's is looking for a new site to open their first Cedar Rapids area restaurant". We'll keep you up to date when we hear about where they may decide to relocate.

So instead of Cedar Rapids being the home to the first Raising Cane's location in Eastern Iowa, that honor will now go to the city of Coralville. The Gazette reports that Raising Cane's has been constructing a new store location at 2800 Commerce Drive in Coralville, right between Wendy's and Casey's. A representative for the company says that this location should be open for business within the first few months of 2022. Company officials say they hope to announce an official opening date soon.

If you've never been to Raising Cane's before, I recommend them. We ate at the Altoona location last summer. The menu is super simple. It's basically chicken tenders. Get them in a basket, or in a sandwich. We were impressed with our meals, and couldn't get enough of the Cane's sauce! I'll be hitting the Coralville location when it opens next year!
