Police Warn Of Attempted Child Abduction in Eastern Iowa
Eastern Iowa authorities are both sending out a warning to parents and asking for the public's help after an attempted abduction of a female teenager Tuesday morning.
[UPDATE] Authorities have announced they've identified the vehicle and driver in this case.
It happened in the parking lot of the Sumner Public Library
According to the police department in Sumner, a man driving the blue or blue-green pickup in the photos below attempted to entice a 14-year-old to get into his vehicle at the Sumner Public Library. It happened at approximately 10:40 a.m. Tuesday morning. Thankfully, the teenager was able to go into the library and is safe.
Police have video of the incident
Sumner Chief of Police Chad Koch says the department has video of the attempted abduction. According to Koch, it is believed the truck is a Chevy extended cab pickup from between 1999-2006. Authorities in Sumner haven't been able to determine the license plate on the vehicle.
Description of the person of interest
The man driving the vehicle is described as a white male, possibly in his 30s or 40s, with dark hair. No additional description was available.

Sumner is located in Bremer County in northeast Iowa. It's approximately 70 miles from Cedar Rapids.
