October Means Its Time For ‘Pumpkinfest’ in Anamosa
The first weekend in October is one of my favorites of the year. My wedding anniversary is on Sunday, but Saturday is Pumpkinfest in my hometown of Anamosa. The event has been going on since 1989 and brings some of the biggest pumpkins from around the U.S. to Jones County.
The pumpkin weigh-off is just the beginning of activities for the day. They shut main street Anamosa down for food and craft vendors and then a huge parade at 2:15. I've been bringing my family to the event for years and it wouldn't officially be fall until we all go to Pumpkinfest!
I'll be working inside the Lawrence Center on Saturday announcing the big pumpkins as they get weighed and displayed. You can stop by and see all the huge pumpkins, watermelons and gourds until 4 p.m. Saturday.
Join the thousands of people who come to Anamosa every fall for Pumpkinfest. I promise you'll have a great time! You can find a complete list of activities HERE.
