Iowa Teacher Celebrates Big Payday on Wheel of Fortune
A teacher from Iowa hit it big on a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune! And this wasn't his first big success on a TV gameshow!
Iowa Teacher Wins Cash on Wheel of Fortune
Nick Oswald is the choir director at Southview Middle School in Ankeny, Iowa. The Des Moines Register reports that Oswald recently appeared on an episode of Wheel of Fortune, which aired on September 18th. He was part of 'Teacher's Week' where educators from across the country competed for cash and prizes.
How Much Did Oswald Win on Wheel of Fortune?
The Register reports that Oswald finished the night in second place, so no trip to the bonus round. However, he did walk away with a total of $11,600! Not a bad haul!
Oswald told the Register that the total amount of money you win is NOT what you actually take home! If you win prizes and you are not from the state of California, you have to pay a state tax of 7% right away. The rest of the money will be counted as income, which you'll have to pay when you file your taxes.
