A 12-year-old boy from Eastern Iowa is being represented in the NFL this weekend! NFL players across the country are participating in the annual "My Cause My Cleats" campaign, highlighting hundreds of different charities. According to the NFL's website:

"Hundreds of NFL players will showcase causes that are important to them with custom cleats during all Week 14 games for the NFL's My Cause My Cleats campaign."

This past Tuesday was 'Giving Tuesday,' which is also known as 'Unboxing Day' in the NFL. That's the day where players revealed their custom cleats to the public on social media. Many Eastern Iowans were happily surprised on Tuesday night when Iowa-native Austin Blythe chose to represent 'TaterTough.'

'TaterTough' was formed for a 12-year-old Williamsburg boy by the name of Tate Schaefer. CBS 2 reports that just before Christmas last year, Tate was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor called a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPD). Offensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams and former Iowa Hawkeye Austin Blythe is also a native of Williamsburg and a big supporter of Tate. He wrote on Instagram:

"I couldn’t think of a better way to use the #mycausemycleats week, than to show my support for Tate and his family. The strength and courage that they have all shown has been an amazing example to everyone who knows them, and everyone they’ve met along the way. Tate has quite the army built up that’s #TaterTough! I know this Sunday against the Seahawks I’ll be thinking about Tate a little extra with him on my cleats."

Austin isn't the only NFL player to be supporting an amazing Iowa cause, though! Another former Hawkeye, Brandon Scherff of the Washington Redskins, chose to represent the Aiming for a Cure Foundation:

James Ferentz of the New England Patriots and Ike Boettger of the Buffalo Bills are both representing the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital:

And Matt Nelson of the Detroit Lions is representing the I Know Jack Foundation:

No matter what team you root for, I think we can ALL get behind these awesome players this weekend!
