New Sports Bar Coming to Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids is getting a new sports bar, just in time for the coldest time of the year, and some of the best months in sports.
Andres Torres, owner of the longtime Villa's Patio location in Marion and the recently opened one in Cedar Rapids, tells me he's opening a new sports bar in the former Pei's Mandarin location on Cedar Rapids' southwest side.
Pei's was located at 3287 6th Street Southwest before closing this summer, after 34 years in the City of Five Seasons. Torres will be opening a new sports bar at that location called Scores on 33rd. Work has been going on at the soon-to-be sports bar for a while, but Torres says "there is still so much work" to do. He's hoping to open Scores on 33rd by mid-November if they can get everything ready to go by that time.
What exactly can you expect from the new spot for sports? Torres promises the new sports bar with have "tons of TVs for game days with burgers, pizza, and American comfort food. We'll have a huge outdoor patio with 2 dugout-theme party room-type areas or an outdoor bar seating area".
The website for the new sports bar is live but there's no menu or any other information as of yet. We'll keep you up-to-date on when you can expect the doors to open to watch your favorite team in action. Here's hoping they'll be ready to go for the Iowa football games against Illinois on Saturday, November 20, and the Black Friday matchup on November 26, versus Nebraska.
