A Cedar Rapids Restaurant is Closing After 34 Years

Another longtime Cedar Rapids restaurant is closing its doors.

This weekend, Pei's Mandarin, located at 3287 6th Street SW, announced on Facebook that this month will be their final month in business. The post reads:

"After 34 years, we have made the decision to close our doors. We are so thankful to our customers over the years, and we hope to get a chance to say goodbye to you all before we permanently close."

According to Pei's website, the first Cedar Rapids location was opened back in 1987, and they have been offering lunch and dinner ever since. The "About Us" section says:

"Pei's Ohana brings the same classic Chinese dishes made from original family recipes, a traditional sushi bar, teppanyaki room with hibachi grills, along with one of the only Korean menus in the surrounding area all under one roof."

The news of Pei's closure has seemed to hit many Eastern Iowans pretty hard. The post has over 500 shares and nearly 250 comments of people lamenting the end of the restaurant. If you want to visit one final time, the final day of business is June 30th. Their hours until then are:

• Dine-In Only: Sunday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• To-Go Only: Sunday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Dine-In/To-Go: Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
