Brain Is SICK of Nearly Getting Hit at Roundabouts! [VIDEO]

We all have our driving pet peeves. Tailgating. Turn signals left on. Speeding. But living in Marion, my number one aggravation while driving is people who still don't know the rules of a roundabout. Marion is home to several prominent roundabouts, several of which are part of my daily driving routine. I was nearly slammed into yesterday again by someone who clearly failed the portion of driver's ed that dealt with roundabouts. Well, I'm here today as a public service to all the morons,...I mean, confused drivers, who aren't sure what to do when they see a roundabout.

Many of you might ask, Brain, why are there so many roundabouts? It's true, when I was growing up we didn't see them in Eastern Iowa. According to the Iowa DOT, there are now over 150 roundabouts in the state, with 10 to 15 new ones constructed each year since 2015. The DOT notes that roundabouts reduce crashes, traffic delays, fuel consumption, air pollution, and construction costs.

Despite the fact we have so many roundabouts around us, it seems some drivers still don't understand the simple rules of how to use them. According to the Iowa DOT, there is one simple rule to remember as you approach a roundabout. The entering traffic yields the right-of-way to the traffic already in the roundabout. Repeating our lesson for today, traffic entering a roundabout doesn't get to just blindly fly in if there are cars, LIKE ME, already in the roundabout!
