Residents preparing for the high water are getting some help from the city.

Sand and sandbags are being offered to Cedar Falls residents free of charge. The materials can be picked up at the Bluff Street Complex, using the entrance located at 16th and State Streets.

According to city officials, the sand and bags will be located near the scrap metal bunkers on the east side of the facility. Shovels will be available, but they encourage residents to bring their own.

Anyone with questions should call the Cedar Falls Public Works Department at 319-273-8629.
