Midwest-Based Coffee Shop Opening First Cedar Rapids Location [PHOTOS]
After opening their first location 34 years ago, a new coffee shop is finally coming to Cedar Rapids.
In the 1980s, two brothers moved from the west coast to the Twin Cities in Minnesota. They brought with them experience in the coffee industry and a plan that included roasting coffee in small batches, serving fresh coffee, providing a great experience, and making the community a big part of what they do. That recipe for success has worked beautifully.
In 1987, the very first Dunn Brothers Coffee location, owned by Ed and Dan Dunn, opened its doors. Nearly three-and-a-half decades later, there are now over 60 locations in seven states, including four in Wisconsin and five in Iowa. A sixth will be opening in the Hawkeye State soon, here in Cedar Rapids.
Alexandra Seay and her husband DeAngelo are two of the four owners who will be operating Dunn Brothers Coffee in Cedar Rapids. Alexandra tells me that they also run the Coralville store, at 3824 Crosspark Road. That location has an average rating of 4.7 (out of 5) in 348 Google reviews, so clearly their involvement in the Cedar Rapids store is good news.
Dunn Brothers Coffee roasts their coffee in their stores each day, in small amounts, helping them provide the freshest coffee possible. They also have a full breakfast and lunch menu, with all items fresh and never frozen. I think you'll agree from the photos below, things look scrumptious.
The Cedar Rapids Dunn Brothers Coffee store will be located at 1140 Blairs Ferry Road NE, just west of Target. Alexandra shared with me that they hope to open around December 15.
