UPDATE: Marion Man Now Charged with 3 Counts of 1st Degree Murder
UPDATE:
A Marion man arrested in connection with the deaths of three people near Robins on Wednesday is now facing 1st-degree murder charges.
KCRG reports that 34-year-old Luke Truesdell of Marion is now charged with three counts of 1st-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. The names of the victims have also been released. Killed in the attack were,
- 44-year-old Romondus Lamar Cooper of Cedar Rapids
- 26-year-old Keonna Victoria Ryan of Cedar Rapids
- 33-year-old Amanda Sue Parker of Vinton
A fourth person remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. KCRG reports that the victims reportedly had blunt force trauma to the head after being hit by a metal pipe.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Three adults were found dead and another severely injured on Wednesday in an outbuilding north of Robins in rural Linn County.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the Linn County Sheriff's Office was called to an outbuilding behind a house at 3699 East Otter Road just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday. First responders found four people who were badly wounded. Three were pronounced dead at the scene and the other was airlifted to a local hospital with what was described as life-threatening injuries, according to the Gazette.
Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner stated that officials did not believe that the public was in any danger, according to the Gazette. Late last night, sheriff's officials announced they had made an arrest in the case.
The Gazette reports that 34-year-old Luke Truesdell was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with the case. Other charges against Truesdell are also pending.
The identities of the victims are not being released pending the notifications of relatives.
