A highly-rated Mexican restaurant in Cedar Rapids has announced that they are no longer in business. On May 23rd, Mamacita Taco Bar revealed on Facebook that they are officially closed. The post reads:

"It is with a heavy heart to announce that we have permanently closed our doors. Unfortunately it was a sudden decision but ultimately the best one to make at this time. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve this side of Cedar Rapids & have made some amazing memories with the community."

Mamacita's is currently located at 3025 Mount Vernon Rd, the former home of Vernon Bar and Grill, but it was originally located in Downtown Cedar Rapids. The restaurant first opened its doors at 834 1st Ave NE in March of 2022, but later that year, it was decided that it would relocate to a bigger space. That bigger space officially opened in December of 2022.

The good news is that the folks behind Mamacita Taco Bar have another restaurant in Cedar Rapids that customers can enjoy. The Facebook post says, "Don’t forget to visit us at Mas Margaritas!" Mas Margaritas is over at 588 Boyson Rd NE.

The city of Cedar Rapids certainly isn't hurting for Mexican restaurants. In fact, there are more than 30 in the area! But, that doesn't mean that Mamacita Taco Bar won't be missed. The restaurant had overwhemingly positive reviews, with 4.9-stars on Facebook and 4.5-stars on Google.

Another Mexican restaurant in Cedar Rapids that closed its doors within the last year is El Bajio 2 at 1140 Blairs Ferry Road NE. Shortly after they closed, Mextizo, another Mexican restaurant, took its place. You can read more about Mextizo HERE.
