Some big changes are coming to the little town of Clarksville, Iowa.

KWWL reports that Clarksville is celebrating their hometown hero, American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe by dedicating a park to her! Since Maddie is the first Iowan to win American Idol, Clarksville mayor, Val Swinton, "says they plan to create 'Maddie Poppe Trailhead Park'", according to the report.

The location of the park is what was an old ice cream shop that was destroyed in the 2016 floods. Now, that old building will be torn down and turned into a beautiful picnic shelter and bike trailhead.

There is no word yet on exactly when the construction of the new park will begin and complete, but we can't wait! It's exciting having someone from our neck of the woods make it big. And the best part is that Maddie is so down to earth. We've been keeping up with her after her win and will continue to follow her journey as the American Idol. We know it's going to be a long and successful one.
