Lost Island Theme Park Planning 2022 Grand Opening [VIDEO]
It's not known when the Lost Island Waterpark will be able to open for the season. The coronavirus pandemic has cast its shadow over other parks too like Disneyland, and Adventureland in Altoona. But one thing that hasn't stopped is the construction of the new $100 million Lost Island Theme Park.
The Courier reports that the Bertch family, that operate Lost Island Waterpark, are still moving forward with grading and construction of the near 90-acre theme park. It will sit across Shaulis Road from the waterpark. It is expected to open in 2022 with all kinds of rides and entertainment offerings.
Social distancing has shut down and delayed many park openings around the nation, but The Courier says that so far none of that has negatively impacted the work being done on the theme park, or on contracts for planned rides. A new video just released by Park Pros is helping to build excitement for the new park. It features plans and drawings of the new park as well as some educated guesses on what type of rides it will house.
One new rollercoaster has been confirmed as headed to Lost Island. The Courier reports that it was purchased from the Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg, Sweden. Coaster enthusiasts have already been discussing the coaster formerly known as Kanonen.
With construction moving forward, the Bertch family is still waiting on when their waterpark can open up. Go-carts and miniature golf will likely remain closed through the middle of May. The waterpark is scheduled to open on June 5th.
