Taylor Noelle can't deny her West Coast influences. The singer-songwriter's sound has a California vibe to it, and her greatest influence comes from Arizona. Okay, few know Stevie Nicks as a native Arizonan, but the point is Noelle goes far outside of Nashville to find music and styles that move her.

"I think she is just unbelievably honest in everything she writes, which takes a lot of bravery," Noelle says of the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman.

"I think that took a lot of time for me to get to in my songwriting," she adds. Noelle's honest storytelling inspires songs like "Too Good" and "Won't Waste My Time" from her new Out of My System EP. While her melodies and fluttering vocals — plus a willingness to live in the upper vocal stratosphere — are what fans notice first, her songs are most often love stories. Even if they end poorly.

December's #LetTheGirlsPlay artist of the month also has respect for Maren Morris. Before the "My Church" singer became famous, Noelle watched her sing at the famous Bluebird Cafe, where was a waitress for awhile. Immediately, she says, she followed Morris on Twitter and Facebook and over the last 18 months has learned to appreciate her tenacity and dedication to her music and style.

Listen to Noelle talk about her influences in the above video before watching a performance of "Won't Waste My Time" from a recent Song Suffragettes show. The native Californian now lives in Nashville and is finishing up at Belmont University as she begins her music career.
