Leader of Cedar Rapids Schools Leaving District
Cedar Rapids' loss is Waukee's gain.
Cedar Rapids School District Superintendent Brad Buck is leaving at the end of this school year.
KCRG reports Buck has taken the same position at Waukee, and announced in a letter to staff that he will start there effective July 1st. He was quoted in the letter as saying,
This decision, while fueled by an enthusiasm for the work ahead and the proximity to my oldest children which this position offers, is certainly bittersweet
A UNI and Iowa State graduate, Buck had started with CRSD in 2015, and prior to that was the director of the Iowa Department of Education. Buck said he is "heartened" by the progress made in his tenure.
Cedar Rapids School District officials told KCRG the process of finding Buck's successor begins immediately and will be spearheaded by the Iowa Department of Education.
Buck's resignation letter can be read in its entirety on the KCRG website.
