New Restaurant Opens in the Former District 23 in Cedar Rapids

A Mexican restaurant with a couple of other Iowa locations has expanded into Cedar Rapids! Say hello to La Terraza Mexican Grill & Seafood!

La Terraza Mexican Grill & Seafood held its official grand opening at 2825 6th St SW back on June 14th, just about a week after welcoming customers for the first time. The new restaurant has replaced District 23, which just opened its doors in July of 2023. It closed its doors less than six months later, on Christmas Eve. Prior to that, it was the home of Los Compadres, which is now located on 33rd Ave SW.

According to the official website, La Terraza already has a couple of other locations in the state of Iowa: one in Toledo and one in Traer. The restaurant has a massive menu, featuring nachos, quesadillas, alambres, molcajetes, tacos, fajitas, changas, enchiladas, tamales, burritos, and more. So far, the reviews coming in for La Terraza are very positive. A Facebook review from user Joel Hummell says, "10 out of 10. They specialize in Mexican seafood which separates them from the rest of the Cedar Rapids Mexican restaurants." Another from Danielle Grimes reads, "really great food. Tasty margaritas. I have tried many of the Mexican restaurants in the area and this is now easily my favorite"

La Terraza Mexican Grill & Seafood is now open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. They are also available for catering. You can get more information on the new restaurant on their official website HERE.
