Navy Rome? Jason Aldean Reveals the Story Behind New Baby Girl’s Name
Jason Aldean and wife Brittany are expecting a daughter, to be named Navy Rome Aldean, any day now, and the country superstar says her name was a bit of a compromise.
"Like with [one-year-old son] Memphis, we made a list of names that we liked, and we'd go back every once in a while, and names that had fallen off we'd take off the list," Aldean revealed during a celebration for his most recent No. 1 single, "Drowns the Whiskey."
When it came to Memphis, that was the name they both really liked. But Brittany still got to include one of her other favorites with his little sister.
"Britt wanted to name Memphis 'Roman' and I wasn't really feeling it," Aldean reveals. "So when it came time for Navy, she asked, 'Do you care if we give her the middle name Rome?' and I was like, 'Works for me.'"
Brittany Aldean Is No Pregnant Diva:
Aldean says that because they weren't naming their kids after family, he didn't care too much what the middle name was.
"I wanted them to have unique names — not weird, but unique," he says. "Having a name like Jason, it doesn't get much more common. I wanted them to have something a little cooler than that, but not like, crazy. I felt like both of their names were different. I don't know anybody else with those names."
And while Aldean did have a grandfather in the Navy, he admits that the names don't have a deep tie to his family history or anything. The singer also made it clear that the baby names list would be going into retirement.
"I have zero plans" to expand the family even more, he admits with a laugh. "To me, four healthy kids, I would feel blessed to have that. And Britt has been pregnant for two years so I don't think she's in any hurry to jump back into that, either."
