Illinois Man Arrested For Getting Into A Fight With His Pet Rooster

My family and I are animal lovers. I've always had a pet around since I was a child. I have absolutely zero tolerance for any sort of animal cruelty. I believe anyone who deliberately harms an animal should be locked up for a very long time. It gets me angry just thinking about it. A guy in Joliet recently got arrested for an unusual animal cruelty crime.

On Saturday afternoon, the Joliet police were called to a local grocery store about a man with a rooster. Apparently, it was his pet. He was trying to get the animal into a shopping cart. When the rooster wasn't having it, the suspect started beating up the bird. When the officers arrived, the rooster had several injuries and a rope tied around its leg. The owner appeared drunk at the time.

During the investigation, the suspect told the cops that he was training the rooster how to fight. Then, he changed his story to explain he was actually training the rooster how to defend itself. Either way was a terrible answer, and he was arrested. The animal was placed in protective custody.
