Winning your first World Series is the kind of moment fans dream about for generations, and Milwaukee Brewers fans finally got theirs. But the celebration that followed was almost as remarkable as the championship itself, with a crowd so massive it set a record for the entire state of Wisconsin.

Milwaukee Brewers Set Wisconsin Record With 2026 World Series Parade

Even though I've lived here in Minnesota for nearly 15 years now, as a Wisconsin native, I've been a lifelong fan of the Milwaukee Brewers. Growing up in central Wisconsin, hearing legendary announcer Bob Uecker on the radio calling a Brewers game was quite literally the soundtrack to my spring and summer seasons.

For much of the 90s through the mid 2010s, however, the Brewers' season ended right along with the summer. After a heartbreaking appearance in the 1982 World Series where the Brew Crew lost to the St. Louis Cardinals, the team back then was never good enough to make it into the playoffs, let alone the World Series.

750,000 Fans Celebrate Milwaukee Brewers' First World Series Title

So with the Brewers usually out of contention, I also cheered on the Minnesota Twins and their championship seasons in 1987 and 1991. My family would usually drive over to watch the Brewers play the Twins in the Metrodome each year, so I was familiar with the team. And I was in college at UW-Eau Claire-- home to a LOT of Twins fans in those days-- when they won the 1991 World Series.

This year, though, watching my team not only get to the World Series, but WIN it, was something that was truly unbelievable. I thought of my dad, another lifelong Brewers fan who passed away 9 years ago and never got to see his team win it all. And, yeah, I got a little emotional and don't mind admitting I shed a few (happy) tears too.

It turns out, I was far from alone in that sentiment. After the Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays on October 28th in Game 5 to win their first-ever World Series, pretty much the entire state of Wisconsin was celebrating right along with me.

That was reflected in the fact that the largest crowd in state history turned out to help the Brewers celebrate during their World Series victory parade on Friday, October 30, 2026. The Milwaukee Police Department estimated that a crowd of 750,000 was on hand during the parade and rally that day in the Beer City-- well bigger than the city of Milwaukee itself.

Milwaukee Brewers Parade Crowd Outnumbers City of Milwaukee's Population

That's right, the city of Milwaukee's entire population is a little over 562,000. When you add it the surrounding area, the population is closer to 1.5 million. Which still means that nearly HALF of ALL residents in the area showed up for the celebration-- nearly three-quarters of a million people-- with nary a report of fires being set, cars being damaged, or other bad behavior that sometimes appears in other cities during these types of celebrations.

I imagine a similar scene will play out here in Minnesota if-- I mean, when-- the Vikings win their first Super Bowl. Even as a die-hard Packers fan, and as long as they're out of it, I'd like to see that happen while I'm here in Minnesota. Because seeing your team win it all really IS an unbelievable feeling.
