New, ‘Fancy Dive’ Bar Opens in Platteville

A new bar that has a "fancy dive" aesthetic and a "warm, welcoming environment" has recently opened in Platteville.

The bar is 2nd Street Social, and bar owner Amar Reddy told Telegraph Herald that he hopes the bar becomes an inviting place for both the professional crowd in the early evening and college kids at night. It's a tricky dance to attract both of those polar opposite crowds, but this new bar seems positioned to pull a diverse crop of individuals.

2nd Street Social Looks to Cultivate a Lounge Vibe:

The Telegraph Herald caught up with Reddy, who opened 2nd Street Social about a month ago on Platteville's Second Street. Reddy is a Platteville native, and ran an American Family Insurance agency from 2014 to 2024. Prior to that, Reddy spent seven years bartending at The Annex in Platteville, and decided to return home and open a bar of his own.

Everyday specials at 2nd Street Social include $3 Busch Lights and $4 Captain Morgan cocktails, per Telegraph Herald. In time, Reddy wants to roll out a cocktail and mocktail menu with a limited list of specialty drinks. The bar is located in the former Beastro Se7en building, which was a short-lived offshoot of 7 Hills Brewing Company.

Reddy has positioned 2nd Street Social for success by being multifaceted. The bar is equipped with rehearsal dinners, private parties/events, and community events as well. While the bar doesn't have a food menu at this time, Reddy told the Telegraph Herald he is looking at leasing it out to vendors.
