Iowans Will Be Paying More for This Streaming Service… AGAIN!
If you subscribe to any streaming services, how many do you have? Remember the days of the cable package? I think we just wanted a la carte. Maybe we cut a few shows and the bill is a few dollars cheaper. Heck, maybe even add channels because that's your jam.
Let's Make Your Cable Bill Cheaper
Maybe we nix the Hallmark channel and add Soapnet one, two, and three, unless Hallmark was your favorite. If you've been hallmarked, I don't know if there is any saving you, but never say never.
What we didn't want was every one of those channels splitting off and trying to create original content that you pay for monthly. Which is kinda what we have now. Hallmark 365, you're paying for that now.
Iowans Will Be Paying More for Netflix, AGAIN!
Now that all the fun is out of the way, let's talk about how you'll be spending more if you've got Netflix in Iowa right now. If you thought, "wait a minute, this can't be right, they just raised prices," you would be correct.
I doubt you need to worry about it again because they don't raise prices very often, except, says 9meters, in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024, and now 2025. Other than those years, no price increases.
Why Are Iowans Paying More for Netflix?
Things must not be going well at Netflix, which is why they've, again, raised prices. That thinking would be incorrect. The latest earnings report showed major growth, with 19 million new subscribers added, which is the biggest jump ever!

CNN is reporting that Netflix attributes much of that growth to the Mike Tyson & Jake Paul boxing match in November of 2024.
How Much Will Iowans Be Paying for Netflix?
Here is how the new pricing shakes out. According to 9meters, the old price for the standard programming with ads was $6.99, and now the new deal is $7.99. If you would like the standard without ads, the old price is $15.49, sliding up to $17.99. The premium, that's the biggest jump per month, was $22.99, but now it will cost you $24.99.
One Final Question
They've increased prices for several years across the platform. They've also cracked down on password sharing. Here is the question: have they priced you out of the market? Or is it the price of doing business? How high could they raise the price before you raise the white flag? What say you?
