Iowans Show Off Their Kitties for ‘National Kitten Day’
Here are some cat pics to brighten up your Friday!
Today, July 10th, is also known as National Kitten Day. It's a day to celebrate the love we have for our feline friends of ALL ages. It doesn't matter how old your cat is, they're all kittens at heart!
I absolutely love cats, but, unfortunately, my body does not. When I was a kid, we did some testing and discovered that I was allergic to cats. Luckily, I was able to manage the allergies with daily medications, so we did end up getting a couple of them eventually. Jingle Bells, J.B. for short, was our first. She was a stray that was taken in by a local vet before she came to live with us. She was really shy and didn't really seem to like anyone except our mom. George was the complete opposite.
We got George (formerly known as Fireball) as a kitten from a litter that my cousin's cat had. He was an orange tabby, but I'm not fully convinced that he knew he was a cat. He used to play fetch and take walks on the leash in the backyard. He was my best friend for years. He loved licking the condensation off the windows in the morning and sleeping on top of my head at night. We had to give him away when my mom got remarried, and I remember it being one of the most devastating moments of my life. I loved that little weirdo SO much!
To celebrate National Kitten Day, we asked listeners to share pictures of their cats accompanied by a funny tidbit about their personality. We got some GREAT responses! Here are a few of our favorites:
