Iowa Women’s Basketball Lands One Of The Nation’s Top Recruits
The Iowa women's basketball team got its first commitment of the 2025 recruiting class, and it was enough to give head coach Lisa Bluder goosebumps!
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Journey Houston, one of the highest-rated recruits in the nation, committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes Tuesday evening. Houston is the top-ranked player in the state of Iowa and plays guard at Davenport North. ESPN ranks her as the 19th-best player in the class of 2025. Houston told the Gazette that Iowa had always been at the top of her list.
The biggest thing for me that I told all the coaches was how comfortable I felt. I have a great relationship with not only one member of the staff, but the whole staff.
The Gazette reports that Houston also plays for the All-Iowa Attack teams which have been a direct pipeline for the Iowa women's basketball team. All Iowa Attack alumni currently on the Hawkeye roster include Caitlin Clark, Hannah Stuelke, and Sydney Affolter. The Hawkeyes offered Houston a scholarship back in 2021, and she chose Iowa over the likes of Iowa State, Michigan, and DePaul.
The Gazette reports that Houston called the Iowa staff and informed them of her decision last night at around 6:30 p.m. Assistant coach Jan Jensen said that it was a great day for Iowa fans and that "the future looks bright!"
