Iowa Skatepark Voted One Of the Best New Attractions In America
The largest skatepark in the entire country can be found right here in the Hawkeye State.
Lauridsen Skatepark has been open for business for a little less than a year now.
On May 7th, 2021 the state of Iowa became home to possibly the biggest skate park in the country. This project has been in the works for some time now. Lauridsen Skatepark in Des Moines opened to the public in early May with its ribbon-cutting ceremony. They also host major skating and non-skating events like the skatepark Dew Tour that kicked off in May of 2021.
Largest Skatepark In America is in Iowa
Located right next to the Des Moines River at the end of the Principal Riverwalk, this skate park might just be the largest in the nation. Not only is this a skater's dream spot, but Lauridsen Skatepark will include the following: flow bowl, amoeba pool, snake run, and a promenade.
There's even a skateable art piece that you can check out, according to the park's website. The park is big on art, which is why they have recently hosted a live mural art show.
How are they going to fit ALL of that skate stuff into their park? Well, this skatepark measures around 88,000 square feet. That's about FIVE acres of skateboarding.
