Iowa Quickly Sells Out Carver-Hawkeye Arena For NCAA Tourney
You knew it wouldn't take long and it didn't. Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City is sold out for the three Women's NCAA Basketball Tournament games hosted by the University of Iowa.
The 26-6 Iowa women's basketball team, the #2 seed in Seattle Regional 4, will take on #15 seed Southeast Louisiana Friday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m. The first game, at 12:30 p.m., will pit #7 Florida State against #10 Georgia.
The University of Iowa was able to announce the above game times just after tickets went on sale Monday morning at 9... less than 14 hours after Iowa's game day and opponent were announced. Iowa fans clearly weren't waiting to find out what time Iowa would play on Friday. Just over an hour after tickets had gone on sale, the University of Iowa announced there were none left.
Iowa's Friday afternoon first-round NCAA Tournament game will be the second straight sellout for the Hawkeyes, who sold out the regular season finale against Indiana. It is the 7th sellout in University of Iowa women's basketball history. If Iowa plays on Sunday, that will be their 3rd straight sellout, and 8th all-time. The sellouts have come in 1985, 1988, 2022, and obviously, in 2023.
There is no floor seating for the NCAA Tournament, so Friday and Sunday's capacity is 14,382.
The Georgia/Florida State game will be televised by ESPN 2 at 12:30 p.m. Iowa and Southeast Louisiana will follow, but it will be on ESPN.
Doors will open at 11:30 for the Georgia/Florida State game. All parking is free both Friday and Sunday Game time for Sunday's contest between the winners of Friday's game has not yet been announced.
