
Details Released for Iowa National Guard Welcome Home Ceremonies
250 troops with the Iowa National Guard are on their way home, and we now know details about the well-deserved welcome home ceremonies!
Iowa National Guard Troops Coming Home This Week
CBS2 reports that around 250 soldiers assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, are returning from deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. The soldiers recently began a phased return to the States after the completion of their mission. According to CBS2, the Iowa National Guard troops worked alongside coalition forces to fight ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
Welcome Home Ceremonies Scheduled
According to CBS2, welcome home ceremonies will take place in both Des Moines and Sioux City on Wednesday, February 11th. Friends, family, and the community are encouraged to come out and recognize the soldiers' service and celebrate their return home! Here are the welcome home ceremony times.
The celebrations in Des Moines will take place at the 132nd Air Wing at the Des Moines International Airport. There will be two arrival times, at both 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
In Sioux City, the welcome home ceremony is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. at the Acension FBO Network, according to CBS2.
The remains of two Iowa National Guard Soldiers returned home in late December. Stars and Stripes reports that Staff Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard and Staff Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar were killed on December 13th during an attack in Syria.
